Father View

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

This week there was a historic summit between two powerful world leaders – their egos even larger than their world powers. One seeking refuge from the other. One feeling that he is the provider, protector and peacemaker for the world. Both coming away feeling like “Mr. Incredible.” The world looked on and celebrated their successful negotiations. The view of the world looks safer and more peaceful after this summit.

On Father’s Day, my family celebrated the leader of our home and all his heroic efforts as the provider, protector and peacemaker. Words of affirmation have also been circulating around facebook as wives daughters, and sons lift up the leaders of their our own homes. Some even likening their own dads and husbands to Mr. Incredible. They should be acknowledged and celebrated for their heroics. The Father role is like no other.

As I think about the vital role of a husband and a Dad and how God designed it to reflect and mirror His role to us – He is the ultimate provider, protector and peacemaker for my world. He is a Father to us all, including the fatherless here on earth. Sometimes it is a struggle to esteem or have a proper father view, especially if one’s own father was not “Mr. Incredible”. Some even struggle at times to be a good father because the role is so great and demanding. That is when the ultimate Father must come into view.

In the Bible, there are many views and attributes of God that are acknowledged and praised. Everyday His Father role in my life should be celebrated. I know and understand that He is my ultimate provider, protector and peacemaker. For how I see God determines my world view and also my self-view. God is my refuge and my strength. He is my very present help in all my troubles. He is my Mr. Incredible.
